the Deaf CNY Party

Today (12 Feb 11)
One of our assignment for Sign Language Class is to attend a Deaf event and learn 10 new signs.
Hence, we decided to join the Deaf CNY Party (3pm - 5pm)
We came 1 hour earlier to discuss about the group presentation.

Then at 3pm, we attended the party.
The party started off with Drum performance by the Deaf Beat Club.
Amazing huh! The Deaf can actually play drums! And it was pretty Synchronised!
Later on was Lion Dance followed by Miming by 2 Japanese Mimers!
And the whole party actually ended at 6pm.

Made a few deaf friends at the party,
and learnt quite a lot of new signs.
I'm just so amazed how fast these people can actually move their fingers wei!!!
They did it so fast, we couldn't even register, and had to ask them to slow down :P
And they are all just so friendly :)
Just in case you guys didn't know, Sign Language is not international,
different countries have different ways of signing..
however, it's not really a barrier for these people as expressions are used very often :)

I really think knowing how to sign is super cool! :)
i mean, let's say you want to communicate to someone at a distance from you,
you don't have to shout :P just sign. =D
Learning sign language has kinda like brought me into a whole new world :)
I'm glad i took up this language..
other than.....
the presentation :P hehe.

alright.. back to my hong kong drama :P

Sign Language Class #2 #3

Sign Language Class #2
There are two sessions per day (1 1/2 hours per session)
the first session was some briefing on the deaf community, events, Quiz and...our Group Presentation.
oH my...did I tell you how much I hate presentations. =(
never expected presentations when i signed up for this.
And that's the only reason why I love ACCA...NO assignments and NO presentations. heh.
owh well, just live with it huh...
The second session was rather fun tho as we started to learn the ULTIMATE basics..
That is..to sign Alphabets, Numbers, Time, Day, and Greetings.
And that was the time where i felt that my fingers just can't coordinate fast enough :P
haha.
Sign Language Class #3
Today, Esther was busy, so another teacher, Susie, came to teach us.
We learnt quite a lot today, and i thought it would be hard to remember everything.
Actually not quite, coz just as long as you can understand why those signs are sign as they are,
then it's actually not that bad trying to memorise what you've learnt.
Food, Fruits, Animals, Occupations, Weather, Family Members, Objects, and Colours were what we learnt today..
The class can be quite entertaining when it come to signing animals... :P ha ha...
Sign Language Class is really fun..
the only down side is the presentation.. :/
but i guess, Sign language is not all about using your hands to sign,
it's a lot about facial expressions...as you can't use the tone of your voice to communicate.
Hence, that's what the group presentation is all about,
to test and train your expressions..
Well, and that's the end of SLC #3.

3 Idiots

3 Idiots
(Indian Movie starring Aamir Khan)

This is one movie that i MUST introduce you people to watch!
this is the Second Indian movie i watched all my life and fell in love with.
the First was Slumdog Millionaire.

This movie is about two friends (Farhan and Raju) embarking on a quest for a lost buddy. On this journey, they encountered a long forgotten bet, a wedding they must crash, and a funeral that goes impossibly out of control. As they made their way through the perilous landscape, another journey begins: their inner journey through memory lane and the story of their friend - the irrepressible free-thinker, Rancho, who in his unique way, touched and changed their lives. It's a story of their hostel days that swings between Rancho's romance with the spirited Pia, and his clash with an oppressive mentor, Viru Sahastraduhhe.
And one day, Rancho vanishes...
Who was he? Where did he come from? Why did he leave?
...
(copied from the back of the DVD cover)

This movie was released on the 25th Dec 2009.
Well, as outdated as I am, I only watched it recently, 3rd Feb 2011.
I was first told about this movie in January this year,
to be honest,
once I heard that it was an Indian movie,
I was kinda skeptical and
Songs, Trees, and Mountains start floating in my thoughts.
but, i'm SO GLAD I actually watched it!
Although, yes, it may be filled with songs here and there,
the movie is 2 hours and 45 mins long.
But i've gotta tell you that this movie is just so meaningful!
and don't worry, it'll not be as boring as LOTR :P
coz as meaningful as it is, it's SUPER HILARIOUS!
but before you can get the jokes, you need a subtitle you understand!
coz most of the time, they'll be speaking in Hindi.

This movie speaks a lot about college/Uni life,
How understanding is important, applying the knowledge you've learn,
and not just dead memorizing!
also teaches you that
you should always strive for Excellence and Success will follow you.

Watch! you won't regret!
College/Uni Students would enjoy this show doubly! :)
trust me!
Everyone that i've asked to watch this told me that they would get more friends to watch!
to convince you further that you should watch this movie,
the movie has won 6 Filmfare Awards and 16 IIFA Awards!
